| Re: TMJ Tinnitus?
ben-
i have T as well. I can manipulate its pitch and actually make it happen by tilting my head back. When i do, my ears get full and start ringing. Sometimes I am just sitting watching TV or working, or at the gym, and one or both ears start to ring for about 20 seconds. From what i have read over the years, it is a symptom experienced by many TMJD sufferers. I think i mentioned in a previous email that in 2001 I started to have many symptoms, headaches, neck pain, teeth pain and sensitivity, ear ringing, and dizziness, especially after chewing. I was given a lower teeth splint that moved my jaw forward and down. After 5-6 weeks, I felt alot of pressure relief and did feel quite a bit better. I stopped wearing the splint and seeing the doc for two reasons, one, I was feeling better, 2-each visit cost a fortune. Unfortunately, in November, my symptoms returned. I am pretty much going through the same thing and trying to find a good doc. As I said, I do recall that for me, the splint did help all the symptoms. I wish I had tried the splint first. Before seeing that Doc, I was put on anti-depressants, anti-convulasants, ENT medication, neurologist, pain management, just about everything, but nothing helped. There is help out there, you just have to do your homework, and also hope for a good doc or dentist.
