Re: my jaw is always so tight

Have you tried any tmj exercises - like putting your tongue to the roof of your mouth and repeating the word "nine" over and over for a couple of mins - one dentist told me to do this several times a day. One dr told the same thing but to use the letter "M". Another dr told me to stick gauze in my mouth on the sides and leave it there for a short time a couple times a day to keep the muscles from shortening.

Re: my jaw is always so tight

i used to have the same situation as you. i could open around 11mm and was on the liquid/mush diet for 8 months. I just chewed for the first time yesterday. It was pretty exciting, haha! to loosen up your jaw, i put a warm moist heating pad on or just a warm washcloth. then start to open your mouth and move it laterally. the warmness will help the muscles...at least for a little bit afterwards... it doesnt provide long term relief, but it helps!

Re: my jaw is always so tight

Swimming and showers are the only things that help my jaw relax, but a short time later (minutes) the jaw is tight again. Its a tease.
