Anybody with carpel tunnel Syndrome??? - TMJ Disorder -TemporoMandibular Joint Message Board

I had a 24/7 splint for the past 2 1/2 years and I finally had it removed and my teeth were corrected to cancel the bad oclusion. It seems to be working well and I only have a retainer to wear durind the night to avoid the grinding we all know so well. My problem is that since I stoped wearing the splint my joints pop like crazy and I now seem to have developed carpel tunnel syndrome in my right hand.. Anybody out there with the same problem???

Do you mean all your joints or you tm joints? How do you feel after 2.5 years of splint therapy- are your symptoms gone? I don''t have carpel tunnel, I'm not sure if that is related to TMJ disorder.

How is your neck feeling? Any stiffness, strained feeling or cracking when you move your head? Carpal tunnel be casued by a misalignment in the cervical spine (neck) vertebrae. Just a thought since tmj usually affects this area as well.

I actually mean all my joints but mostly my legs, and shoulders.( My neck used to feel strained and cracked a lot but every time I felt that my dentist corrected my splint and it all disappeared within days) It all started to happen since I had the splint removed two weeks ago. I suspect it’s all because my body is aligning itself back to a normal position but because my dentist has been on vacation I haven’t spoken to him about it. 2.5 years with a splint is a long time and I am still getting used to not having it and sometimes it feels funny, because that splint became a part of me, and I had a normal life with it. Just about all my symptoms are gone. I still have a handicap but its manageable. Its still hard to bite into a very bulky food and to ion is out of the question. The process of turning into a “free person” takes some getting used to, since I was conditioned for so long regarding my day to day living.The pills the exercises, not being able to eat anything, people staring into my mouth etc!. I am taking it one day at the time but I am so happy to actually feel my teeth! Its incredible, so these little problems concern me a bit but don’t pull me down like before I started to see a resolution to my problem.. I still have a long way to go and know I will have regular dentist appoitmments for the rest of my life.
