my 12 year old started suffering from what the ENT says is tmj after 8 months of wearing a retainer to straighten her teeth..after they had strightened to a point, she began with invisialign and soon after, had what she described as ear pain, only on left side..the ENT says its really in the joint close to the ear and she percieves it as her ear hurting....we have been to the dentist, back and forth to the orthodontist, ENT twice, had an MRI of the left TMJ, they all come up with tmj as an explanation for her pain..it mosly hurts while eating, but often hurst randomly..none of the home remedies seem to be working, motrin, warm moist compresses, could this be from the jaw re alignment...I need some help without surgery or injections as an answer...the orthodontist has her currently wearing a mouthguard..at first it was for 12 hours a day, now for 24...she feels only 1% better...this is torture watching my child suffer...any ideas???? HELP...thanks
By the way, our orthodontist is reputable and been in practice for many many years...he says he has seen this before, but doesn't give me too much information after that
