Does anyone else get a watery mouth with their TMJ? I feel like I have an abundance of saliva, especially on the right side of my mouth where my TMJ is. I don't always get it, but when I do, it is bothersome.

My 12 year old does with her TMJ and she chokes with it.

Thanks for answering me - bless her heart, is there any medication that the drs. can give her to dry out her mouth? I had this same thing happen to me in high school and it went away on its own and then it didn't happen until several years later under extreme stress - I think I might be clenching more on my right side. Tonight I'm fine - it comes and goes, but it does seem to get better with some exercise, which relaxes me and after a massage.

We have a work up on July 19th with an ENT so I am hoping that he can help us out on relieving some of the symptoms. She was given a splint one month ago and it appears to be relieving some of the pain. YEAH!!

Good luck with your appointment. Let me know what the ENT says. I went to an ENT, but all he did was just "feel around" and said that he didn't feel any stones or obstructions. He said that he could measure output and then decide whether or not to put me on medication. He did say, however, that it could have neurological side effects (the med). I opted not to go any further. I also have acid reflux with horrible belching, despite being on Aciphex. I definitely have TMJ, though, and think I might be clenching on my right side during stress.
