Yes, I definitely think there should be. I feel like the general public has a very low understanding of TMJ, and it might help others find out that they are not alone with this problem. I wonder what we could do to get the awareness out? Any ideas?

I think that is a great idea! Everyone would drink smoothies and eat soup. And all the supporters would wear a ribbon in the shape of a heating pad! ;)

How funny that you all asked this at almost the exact time!

There IS a TMJ Awareness *Month*!

November is Jaw Joints - TMJ Awareness Month.

In September 1997, Masssachusetts Congressman Barney Frank designated November as Jaw Joints - TMJ Awareness Month.
His proclamation acknowledged that temporomandibular joint and muscle disorders (TMJDs) are "among the more painful, yet least understood disorders affecting people today."

The TMJ Association, a non-profit organization for TMJ disorder patients and their loved ones, has more information about this on their website.
The NIH even launched a recent campaign in the Washington DC area about TMJ.

You can read more on the TMJA's website.. not sure if I am allowed to post that here.. but there is definitely more we can ALL do to promote awareness for TMJ disorder! I hope you will all join in and help The TMJ Association promote scientific research, awareness, and support for patients! :)
