I DO - BADLY....I have been to a fantastic ENT - who did MRI of my brain and auditory canal - negative...then a MRA/MRV which found I have twisted arteries in two areas of the brain - he sent me to a specialist at the Univ. of PENN.... I just saw him last week. He seems to think the twisted arteries have nothing to do with my pulsatile tinnitus. He is now sending me for a CT scan of the bones at the base of my skull (severe pain there all the time)...and I have to see a neuro/ophthamologist - to be checked for Intracranial Hypotension. I am having every single test done to rule out anything bad and, I pray to god, they find a reason for this tinnitus and get some help. So far, nothing is showing up...It's completely maddening. I do have TMJ too - worse on the side of the tinnitus and I keep wondering if its from that. If all these specialists and tests don't show, I will be looking for a TMJ specialist. I have also had two hearing tests. My hearing is fine, except I cannot hear certain tones on the side of the tinnitus. Probably not due to actual damage, but because the sound is SO LOUD, I cannot hear them. There can be many reasons for pulsatile tinnitus and I hope something positive comes from all of this. MaryAnn
Please elaborate on this a little for me so I can understand more. I have TMJ which I was told came about when I had my wisdom teeth pulled in the hospital over 25 years ago. As time goes on I have increased tinnitus and now am hearing about the connection here with the two. I looked it up on the internet some but I'd rather hear it from someone who can explain it in real life. It seems to be getting worse the older I get and now I'm getting really sensitive to loud noises, church music, etc. I'm also having epileptic seizures and wonder if the tinnitus is getting worse with that too. I'm in menopause too. Can it get any worse?! I've got it coming from all angles and I'm losing my mind! I haven't seen an ENT about it. I'm too busy with the seizures & menopause to really tackle it right now. Thanks for your input.
