could this be tmj

Under my jaw the muscles feel funny, jaw pops when opening and closing, feeling of a lump in my throat near my adams apple, right ear plugged. I noticed when I lay down to sleep I am clenching my jaw, I bite the sides of my tongue and also my cheek. This all started 10 weeks ago one day when I woke up and felt like I had been run over by a truck. I had extreme fatigue, muscles aches, joint pain and some tingling and numbnes in my hands. Went to the drs had many test done all which come back normal, many diseases ruled out so my drs are somewhat stumped. I am thinking I may have fibromyalgia or possibly lyme (waiting for test results, hopefully negative) I have read that fibro can affect your jaw. So my question is does this sound like it could be tmj and if so any home remedies?

Re: could this be tmj

Personally I feel it is the other way around - that tmj causes fibro since most medical drs will tell you that fibro is just a name for a group of symptoms characterized by fatigue and widespread joint and muscle pain of unknown origin or cause - there's no test for it other than if you have the symptoms - which is true of other medical condtions as well.

Its good though that you have been trying to rule out as many other medical conditions as possible and are awaiting the results for lyme disease.

If you do an Advanced Search on this forum using the key words "home remedy" or "self-help" etc I am sure you will come across several posts regarding this that provide a lot of tips and advice on things one can do at home to better deal with and improve their symptoms.

Ps - yes it does sound like tmj, btw - you have many of the classic yet often definitive symptoms or signs of it.
