Help with TMJ
The things that have helped me with TMJ include:
A night splint made by a prosthodontist from a mold of my teeth.
Acupuncture was a great help. I got it once a year, one or two sessions as needed.
Massage of the head, neck, shoulders, temple and jaw bone.
Special stretching exercises, which involved bending the neck forward and to the sides, also arm stretches.
Pain relievers when needed.
Avoiding hard foods such as hard candy, nuts, cheese curls, raw vegetables unless grated or thinly sliced, anything crunchy.
Avoid gritting the teeth or opening the mouth very widely.
Avoid chewing gum if it causes soreness.
Read a book on TMJ.
