how to get rid of severe ear pain due to tmj

There is something called a splint that I hear works very well! I havent tried it yet, but I think I am about too. I never knew I had TMJ. I just thought I was prone to ear infections. My ears and muscles in my mouth hurt sooo bad. I am always trying to massage them inside my mouth. And everything is so tender. I was also having spasms in the musceles. Felt like my jaw would not sit right, or relax.

HI---have you been to a specialist yet? It sounds like you triggered tmj symptoms in some way, and you may need to get a nightguard to wear if you are grinding your teeth. The ear pain is due to your lower mandible being in the incorrect position. You may need to enter into splint therapy to reposition it. Hopefully not, but a good tmjd specialist can give you an exam. Look under ICCMO, and see who is near you, also, make sure they do neuromuscular tmj treatments, and possible be a Functional Jaw Ortho. as well. If you need help locating one, let me know...I'll be happy to help. Take care....
