Eliminate Caffeine and eliminate TMJ

Temporomandibular disorders may be caused by an allergic reaction (The Merck Manual of Diagnosis and
Therapy.)An allergic reaction to a methylxanthine drug, theophylline, caffeine, or any of the others, can induce TMJ, sleep apnea, and bruxism. Suggest eliminating all caffeine products, chocolate, tea, cola., etc. Muscles should start relaxing on their own within 2-6 months.
Hope this has helped someone. God bless. <p>[This message has been edited by moderator1 (edited 08-06-2002).]

Re: Eliminate Caffeine and eliminate TMJ

Hi Ragamuffin,
This is really interesting. I drink alot of caffeine and diet coke. I have bad migranes and tmj problems from excessive grinding. My mouthguard made me sick at night so I stopped using it but now my jaw is always sore. I will look at eliminating all caffeine and I think this solution makes logical sense. Thanks.

Mel
