My jaw has been locked for about a month and a half now. I have been to a surgeon, and he told me my jaw bone is out of place. I didn't understand much of what he was saying, however he said my options were a scope, an operation, or let it heal its self. I had an MRI yesterday and am waiting to hear back from the surgeon. He said that my jaw will never go back to normal, and it will always continue clicking. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me what to expect, or any thoughts about what my next steps should be? If anyone has any information/tips on diet, pain and other symptoms I'd be more than happy to hear them.

Hi Brenna....Sorry to hear that you are having jaw issues...I understand your frustration. I am in neuromuscular TMD treatment right now, and having great success with it. Before considering any type of surgery, I highly recommend that you consult with a neuromscular dentist, that specializes in TMD disorder. They should devote at least 50% TMD in their practice, and do Neuromuscular orthodontics, or have a doctor that works closely with them that does the NM ortho. I know there are a few NM dentist listed on the Great TMJ doctor's thread at the top of this page in Canada....If they are not near you....call them and see who they would refer you to.
