TMJ or Intracranial Hypertension?

Long story short, I have had a constant pressure for 11 months now in my jaw, cheeks, neck, and back of head. The pressure moves from place to place throughout the day, so weird

I've had MRI, CT scan... nothing.

Sinus surgery, wisdom teeth extraction, no help.

I have no other symptoms, just a constant pressure that will never go away. The only thing that works is hydrocodone but I don't want to take that forever. All other pain meds dont work. Amitryptilyne does nothing.

I have no jaw joint pain so I'm skepitcal of TMJ. Is there honestly such a thing as TMJ? I've never heard of anyone's TMJ resolving...

IHH, wouldn't my eyes hurt and wouldn't I have a severe headache?

Tension headaches cant possibly last 11 months? can they?

Appreciate any response

Re: TMJ or Intracranial Hypertension?

TMJ is a very gray area that comes with a whole slew of symptoms and problems. And not everyone will have the same complications and issues as the next. That is why it is so hard to get the right treatment. Not everyone is the same.

Re: TMJ or Intracranial Hypertension?

This could very well be both or none. I think there are sure-fire ways to rule out intracranial hypertension (is MRI one of them?) so why not do it.
I have had similar symptoms and thought I had glaucoma or intracranial hypertension, but none was ever detected and believe me, I had every possible test done. So I am kinda stuck with TMJD...
The pressure gradually went away thought. Oh, and my eyes are also fine, although I was sure one of them will pop out any minute.

Re: TMJ or Intracranial Hypertension?

If you've literally never felt pain in your jaw but all the other pains, i'd guess its unlikely to be TMJD. if you rule out sinuses and teeth, i'd guess at an inner ear infection causing hypertension in your facial muscles.

do you have fillings? if so do you know what kind?
