Re: Pea sized lump in front of ear?
I had the same thing. It could be your pterygoid area. Try searching pterygoid and trigger point releases.
When the muscles are angry and spasming due to the TMJD, the pterygoid can knot up as a trigger point. A good trigger point release would be really helpful if that is what it is. There is information out there on doing your own trigger point releases, but the actual release for the pterygoid and masseters are pretty painful. I found it much better to have a therapist do the orofacial releases for me. With the pterygoid, she put her pinky up in my mouth along my jaw until it hit that area just in front of the ear. She then applied strong pressure to that trigger point. In the beginning, it would take up to 5 minutes to release. For that one, it is kind of like when you pop a pea. It does hurt like crazy, but afterwards feels much much better. Subsequent releases get easier as well.
Might be worth searching to see if that fits your symptom.
