hi I was due to have a mri scan today to see where my tmj discs are , but was too scared to go through with it , the reason i was scared was because i have slight tinnitus, and have heard the mri scans are so loud , i didnt want to make the tinnitus worse, has anyone had a mri scan are they loud or am i just being silly?, is there any other scan i could have like a cat scan or a cone beam scan that could see the position of the discs . thankyou
I have had a couple of MRIs, and it just clangs. They put earmuffs on me both times, and they tallk through them. If it is a long one they play music. It will not affect your tinnitus. Sera
It does sound a bit like a hammer banging on metal. The earmuffs dulled it, I could still hear it, but it is sort of intermittent, on and off. It was not loud enough to be a bother through the earmuffs (they were more actually headphones, the sort that block out outside sounds, so it was the music I could hear mainly). Truly, the noise is not a big deal. Sera.
Hi sarahblue, just wondering if u have had ur MRI yet. I also have tinnitus and had to have a MRI a few days ago. I was also scared of it being so loud as my ears are very sensitive to noise. Apparently I kept moving so I am worried I will be called back to do the scan.
Anyway hope u were ok.
