are these symptoms related to TMJ?

Couple of problems:
1) For the past couple of days, probably a week, I've been having ringing in my ears at night when I'm trying to fall asleep. I probably have it throughout the day too but the day-noise cancels it out. But when I wake up in the morning and its still pretty quiet just like at night, I don't hear the ringing as much.
2) Also you know when you go up hill or to higher elevation and you swallow, and your ears sorta pop...I'm getting that almost every time I swallow. Yesterday I went to my doctor and flushed the wax, he said there wasn't that much. The ringing decreased just a little bit after that, but no real change. Next week I have an apt with a ENT doctor.
3) It also seems I can hear this ringing the best when I lay down (as in when I go to bed). Does that mean something?

The ringing I'm hearing is much more noticable in my left ear. I hope whatever this is, its temporary...
