| Need Jaw Replacement Help.
Hello,
I was in auto accident in 1988, I had severe damage to my face. I have had several surgeries on my jaw the last one was in 1992. I had issues on and off but I managed the best I could. The last surgery they did bone graft and replaced condyl with tissue from my groin. I was told it would only last 10 years. Well 10 years ago it started to crap out on my, went back to surgeon and was told because I was diagnosed with Lupus and "connective tissue disease" No one would operate on me. I needed a replacement and my only option was to go to another specialist. I managed, though had several rough times to make it till now.. and boy it hit harder then a ton of bricks.
I needed to have my top 5 teeth extracted, I fractured my face and had a bridge from accident. In Novemeber I had a severe infection that went to bone, I had extractions done and now have denture. While they opened my mouth under anastesia a bone spur must have popped or something, I have been in excrutiating pain since. Xray shows bone flat fused together with no condyle. Oh we also live in NC original surgeries were in NY.
I was reffered to Dr at UNC and was now on a 6 month waiting list. I started pain management as well. My appointment was to be July 3rd, we got a call 2 weeks ago that the dr I waited 6 months for left because of family emergency and moved to Illinois, they could not help refer, no further info was given. So we are back to square one, no Dr..
We called 3 Dr.s the closest being 3 hours away in Gastonia, my dr sent refferal and I was place on a waiting list, I was told the dr will go through all refferals at the end of the summer and I would probably get appointment some time next year??? seriously?? The second one was in Md, first available apt would be in February. The third dr was in Richmond, he moved to Ohio?
I have never been in so much pain, I feel like my bone is going through my ear, the pain is excrutiating. I was put on lyrica and toradol for breakthrough pain,, but I am never not in pain, so what is breakthrough pain? I dont know what to do, who to call. My oral surgeon doesn't even know what to do,, they are trying to locate someone to help. Please if anyone knows any Dr that can get me in before next year. Or can tell me if there are any dr's that do jaw replacement in NC VA MD.
