My TMJ Is CURED, please read :)

Hi there,
Found this forum by accident and would like to share this as I am SURE it will help you, as I had every TMJ symptom going, but I am cured to a large degree, so I just want to HELP as I know the pain!!!
I had TMJ disorder for 2 years before it was correctly diagnosed.
Part of the problem was that I had bad jaw and facial swelling,so Doctors thought it was sinus problems at first, etc.I was in permanant agony as my face almost felt numb/heavy, my neck ears and shoulders were agony,my Jaw was so sore I sometimes couldnt speak,I had knots in the muscle of my Jaw, i was sooo tired...
I felt like giving up.
After 16 Doctors with no answers and 2 years of agony, heat spray, hot water bottles, ibuprofen, magnesium sprays, mouth plate, anything I could think of,-sound familiar?I got diagnosed properly by a Maxillo Facial Surgeon at my local hospital(I live in the uk)all the dentists and doctors didnt recognise the symptoms but he did.
In short I was put on a 35 mg dose of NORTRYPTILINE
It takes 3 weeks to work, but amazingly, it has cured it
I have been free of TMJ for 7 months now, Please ask your doctor for this medicine, although it is classed as a trycyclic antidepressant in large doses, the small dose acts like a local anaesthetic and muscle relaxant, and often is given for chronic fatigue too-so I have loads of energy now,and am pain and swelling free.Jaw fine, face fine-everything normal.
Dont keep suffering-the cure was so simple, I hope I save you the 2 years of pain I had.Get your life back.
Please ask your doctor or surgeon for this before they tell you you need that expensive joint replacement operation-I bet you you will be fine!!

I'm glad nortriptyline worked for you. I have severe TMD and tried nortriptyline but sadly, no results for me.

Hi,
Wow so happy to hear of ur cure, I also live in uk. I have been
Suffering for 9mths now after a trauma in my life the shock led to this.
Mri-first showed a displaced disc but after a few more opinions, its actually not
My disc are in normal position but seems I have severe muscle
Spasms.
I have had a lot of symptoms but here are my symptoms now after
Wearing a 24 hour splint for 4mths and valium 2mg to help with anxiety:
The stuffiness in ears and popping is decreasing
Severe eye strain all the time (cannot watch tv,go on computer )
Severe neck and should pain
Pain makes me tired!!!
The jaw opens better and have now been advised to start taking it off for
A while during the day but a must at nights
Recently my gp suggested amitriptyline (10mg) antidepressant but used not for dat purpose but for the severe eye strain which I just feel like pulling my eyes out.he said I n start by one a night and then work it upto 40mg...after reading ur post I may try it-as I was afraid to try it cos the whole antidepressant attached to it...I've had chiros, oesteos, physios spent a small fortune .have just started triggerpoint therapy which sounds promising.
The drug you were perscribed sounds similar to the amitriptyline-hope it works for me.

Do you still keep taking it or it works in 3 weeks and then you can quit taking it?
