Unhappy Just got some news

I have just been diagnosed with tmj, iam in the dark on this so excuse my ignorance. I was reffered to a tmj dentist for a mouth quard or some type of splint. I recently had extensive dental work on the same side where the problems started with mouth extended open for long periods of time. I would welcome any advice on the device as the costs will be totally out of pocket. Do these splints work? Thanks to anyone who can give me some advice........regards don

Re: Just got some news

You will find a lot of other posters on this board who had TMJ triggered by dental work. If fitted properly, a splint can be a useful tool. I wore a lower mandibular repositioning splint and that in conjunction with PT/trigger point therapy made a significant improvement in my TMJD.
