Is it normal to get a tense neck one minute and dizzy then like 20min later it can go away then come back etc etc

Re: Neck tension from tmj

I wouldn't say its normal, but in regards to tmj it can happen when the c-spine and/or lower jaw is not stable or is shifting which can result in compression of nerves, compromise c-spine alignment or restrict muscle function. By tense neck I assume you mean the muscles in this area and of those shared with the jaw tighten up or contract or are in spasm - if so, keep in mind that it may also be that the eustachion tubes of the ears may also be affected by this thus affecting the equilibrium ergo the dizziness.

Re: Neck tension from tmj

My neck tension has been pretty bad in the past. In conjunction with my splint therapy, I did lots of PT with a physical therapist trained to do orofacial trigger point releases. She spent a lot of time working on my neck and shoulders as well as my body alignment that were impacted by TMJD.

Re: Neck tension from tmj

I noticed its like my neck muscles become weak in the back of my head / neck joint. It happens more at work under stress regardless if I massage the areas . Man I'm tired of this BS tmj
