tmj and vitamin d

I've been reading a bit about the relationship between vit d deficiency and tmj disorders (and other muscular tension problems). I had my levels checked last year a few weeks after a trip to Mexico (was out in the sun lots) and my level was 47. So that is low, despite having plenty of sun. I never really did anything about it and as the year progressed, my muscular jaw tension has been increasing. I was wondering if anyone else has made the connection between a vit d deficiency and their tmj disorder and if supplementation was helpful? And if it was, how much were you taking and how soon before you noticed a difference?

btw, I'm currently almost 2 weeks into splint therapy and my jaw still will not unlock. Stubbornly tight muscles.
