Lightbulb ideas for teachers dealing with kids with tourettes

hi all. my 13yr old has tourettes as well as some defiant disorder. his first yr of school consisted of the teachers sending or ring me up at least 2/3 a week. i think that because of the verbal tics he has they thought he was being dispuptive and their plan was just to send him home or pull him out of class.... as you can imagine this became very frustrating and hoping for any advice from parents how have been through this... thnks
