My cousin gave me a kidney and while she recovered at first quite quickly to get up and around, it took about 6 to 8 weeks before she was more normal in her energy levels. My friend's husband went through the same thing. For both of them, pain was not so much an issue, but fatigue was.
I am glad you told me that! I was worried. The pain is better but I am so tired all the time. I have been walking to try and get my energy back but have to nap when I am done. I was such an active person, mom, teacher, workout, garden, etc... It puts my mind at ease to know I am not the only one. All in all I am doing great and so is my father-in-law that I donated to. I would do it again in a heartbeat!!!
Don't forget, your recipient went from virtually no kidney function, to a fully functional kidney (fast recovery). You went from 2 fully functional kidneys to only 1. It will take a while for the remaining bean to pick up the slack. You will feel better in a month or two. Don't push it too hard. You will be fine.
