diagnosed with Trigeminal Neuralgia but no triggers

Just wondering if anyone has been diagnosed with Trigeminal Neuralgia with symptoms of tooth and jaw pain but no triggers? I am hoping it is just a cracked root because I have had a 2 root canals and 2 crowns. Dentist suspected a dental allergy because the gum tissue itched and was relieved when I brushed and flossed. It has been 7 months since the crown was replaced and I still have a constant ache that is accompanied by a sting or burning feeling. Symtoms are relieved when I eat on the opposite side and when I brush my teeth. It however is very uncomfortable to chew on the right side as the #3 tooth that has had all the work done feels like it is going to pull out. It also has a throb when I walk across the floor. It doesn't keep me awake at night and don't have lightening stabbing feelings...I do have an occasional numbing feeling at times....I have been to so many doctors and nothing shows on x-rays. I have had many say to extract the tooth and then others that say it could make it worse if it is TN....Help I can't function with this pain!

Re: trigeminal neuropathy - scared !!!!

If you have TN, it will not show up on an x ray. You need an MRI of the brain. Have you seen a neurologist? You don't say where you live so I can't recommend one but the facial pain association has a list of TN approved docs.

Sounds more like TMJ. TN pain is unforgettable and excruciating. Does your jaw make strange noises? Like a creaking or rubber rubbing together type sound?
