How long could it take after getting off bcp??? - Trying to Conceive (TTC) Message Board

Hi all

Haven't been on in a while, but I was on the pill for 8 years, got off in January, got 3-30 day cycles, and one 43 day cycle, and we are trying for a baby, and still no sign of prego...How long does it usually take to get prego? I have been having dreams of being prego, having a prego test be positive, so the next morning I take one, and a bfn. Maybe it is all in my head because I want to become prego so bad, but it is easier said than done when people say don't think about it because it will never happen, but it is hard to not think about it when you really want one....

some feed back please.

I just stopped BCP on August 4th and I got a faint line on my HPT today. I am 15dpo but I still have to take another in a day or two. I guess I will know for sure after a blood test.

I do not know when I ovulate because I am very irregular, so we have sex every week to bring up the chances. My last period was July 28-August 1 and I have not had a period yet, but all the tests I have taken were a bfn. I am not sure if my body has regulated from the pills yet. What do you guys think?

Hey Cherfan. I had my first daughter in 1995, then went on the pill afterward. I was on the pill until October of 2001. I stopped taking it because we started TTC. I didn't have very regular periods and never knew when I was ovulating. We didn't do any of the fertility tests or anything, just tried on our own. It took us two years to get BFP. I found out I was pregnant in August of 2003 and had our second daughter in April this year. Good luck to you.

I think it all depends on how your body works. I have been off of BC and i have not even gotten my periods. I think that i have just gotten it like maybe 3-5 times with in the last 2 years.
