Confused about when to conceive...

My husband and I want to conceive sometime next spring, when our daughter will be almost 3. I am on BCP's right now, but want to stop soon so my body can adjust before I get pregnant. What worries me is that we both want our daughter and our next baby to be about 3 years apart, and if we start trying like in May or so, and it takes over a year or longer, I would be so depressed. It took only 6 months with our first, but I now have endometriosis and am very irregular, and I am not sure if maybe we should start trying now or what? But then we could try now and get pregnant right away. And I am not sure if that's what we are ready for. I am hoping for a baby early 2006, but it could be 2006 and we might still be trying. I am just really confused. Any thoughts, or experiences? Thanks so much!

Re: Confused about when to conceive...

I would first check htis out with your doc and see what he or she has to say. Then I would maybe think about trying sooner just to be on the safe side. Really you have to do what is confortable for you and what is the safer and hmore healthy way for you.

Re: Confused about when to conceive...

I do not know how old you are, but it seems a tinsy bit immature that you would be sad if it took you longer to have a child than 6 months. Although I do believe 3 years is the appropriate time to conceive another child, anything after that is completely Okay! And I do feel that the further the children are in age that the closer they will be (and the more your oldest will be able to help you out!)

Dont fret. When the time is right, the time is right. Have fun while you're trying and dont put too much pressure on yourself!

Re: Confused about when to conceive...

I dont think it is immature at all to be uspet if it takes longer the second time. I have dealt with secondary infertility(actually on my second round of dealing with it) adn I can understand being upset if it takes longer. One of my friends felt bad because she was sad that it was taking so long with her second. Her first they got pregnant with the first time they tried but their second took 5 months. She told me she felt bad crying to me about it because I had and was going through infertility.
With not being regular and the Endo chances are it will take longer to get pregnant so you might want to prepare yourself to face that. Yes it can be uspetting but you do have your DD to cuddle with and you have more time to have fun with yoru DH.
Also it is kind of fun to spoil one child for as long as possible before a new sibling comes along.
I actually only wanted 2 and half years between my children...didnt work out that way as you can tell in my sig. They are actually 4 and half years apart. There are some days where I wish they were closer in age but it cant behelped so I just enjoy what I have.

Re: Confused about when to conceive...

Thanks Blastoff for thinking that what I said isn't immature, cause I honestly wasn't trying to sound immature about it all. All I was trying to say was that I am very excited to have another baby, and would be sad if it took longer than 6 months. I am aware that it can take a long time, but I honestly don't know of anyone who wouldn't be sad if it took a while to conceive. Thanks for writing Blastoff
