Obesity and TTC - Trying to Conceive (TTC) Message Board

My husband and I want to start TTC our 2nd child next spring or summer. Everything about that timing seems right, except for the fact that I am about 70 lbs overweight. I am otherwise very healthy, but I'm worried about how being pregnant will affect my body.

For the last few months I have been working hard at eating healthy and getting more excercise. I have already lost probibly about 10 lbs, but I still have so far to go to get to my ideal weight. Whether or not to TTC in the next 9 months or so is a major dilemma to me. I guess I'd just like to hear about other women's experiences with TTC while being overweight.

I have not been in the situation you are but was just wandering how you were doing with loosing weight and ttc?

My friend was over weight by 30lbs and she didnt have a problem concieveing or giving birth, i hope you get on well and concieve soon, i am sorry i have not been much help but i wish you all the luck.

Hello I dont normally look at this board but did tonight and came across your post and thught id answer. Im about 100lbs overweight man did I just say that wow lol. Ok well ive had no troble getting pg. b.c. cant even stop me 2 times over now. I dont think its affected my body anymore than anyone elses. all my babies have been healthy #4 on the way. They say you cant feel movement as quick either as a smaller person. Not true with me anyways. I have noticed that already being over weight I do tend to gain weight fast and alot I start to show at 3 months and on and I normally gain 50-90 lbs during pg. I guess being overweight makes that worse. Im going to try this time and be healthier. hope it works out great for you.

iam also overweight and im not sure what effects that is gonna have as we are ttc i have heard that if you are overweight before you get pg its even harder to loose the extra weight after birth.
