When is the best time for a couple to have a child?

When is the best time for a couple to have a child? My husband and I have been married more than 4 years now. I am so ready to have a baby but he freaks out every time I mention it. When do you think he will be ready? I am 22 and he 26. Is that too young? We have money and time. My biological clock and going tick tick tick tick. Every time I pass the infant section of the stores, see a baby, or see one on tv I feel so sad.

Re: When is the best time for a couple to have a child?

Did you both talk about children before you got married? Just remember, you have to find a time when you are both comfortable b/c it is totally a life changing event. Try getting your husband around children and see if he warms up to the idea......nieces/nephews/friend's kids whatever. It will give you opportunity to see what it's like too.

That's about all the advice I can give you. My husband and I had our first at 26....but age is so different for different people

good luck!

Re: When is the best time for a couple to have a child?

One day he may just wake up and think kids= yes, not kids= no way!
I was like that. im 28 in April (pass me a zimmer frame lol), This time last year i was absolutely certain that no way was i ever having babies. I thought kids were nice but never ever a part of my life. My biological clock wasnt ticking, it was still in the factory hehe. then my dad died in May last year. Then something just switched on in my head, my biological clock went from being in the factory, to ticking to fit to exploding in a couple of days! Now im obsessed with it all. You wouldnt believe all the stuff ive got already. (some would say im setting myself up for a fall, but i try to think posative)

So your DH could very easily wake up one day and have a sudden change of heart. Just dont push him on the subject (my dh wanted kids all along and pushing me on it made me dig my heels in more).

Goodluck.

Re: When is the best time for a couple to have a child?

My DH had a change of heart, he was '' no not interested, dont want them, happy as we are'' then one day, in the evening he turned aroubd and said - the time is right, im ready to start a family, my mouth dropped to the floor and i had to ask him to repeat himself as i was sure id misheard him lol.

I have so much stuff all ready, there is a little suitcase under the bed with ikle clothes in, a teddy and some boooties, and i know it may be bad luck but i just couldnt resist it anymore.

Just dont think never, think maybe, one day he may just turn around and shock you

Re: When is the best time for a couple to have a child?

well i am 22 and my husband is 25. he did not want a baby right away, he kept saying when we can afford to, which we can.. but he was not ready to think about the idea and then we had a scare. i thought i was prego and he had a week to dwell on the idea. turned out im not and now that he is used to the idea he has completley begging to get started. so maybe it just takes the thought of actually having one and realizing we r not to make him feel this way, not saying to psych him out that would be mean right??????
hope he comes around for you
