quick question for Laura

Laura,

I have just started charting this cycle. It is a little confusing but I think I am doing okay. My question though is...My temps have been low since AF started on Jan 30. (like in the 97s) AF ended on Feb 3. This morning before I could record my temp, I had a stressful couple phone calls, about 1/2 hour later than usual I took my temp. It was up to 98.4???? My question is could I have ovulated already or do you think the stress cause the rise in temp???? I am so new at this and am not sure how it all works. My cervix is higher but cm is somewhat wetter but not EG or stretchy. What do you think? DH and I bd on Sat & Sun so if I did O early I guess it could'nt hurt!!!LOL Thanks so much!

Re: quick question for Laura

Chances are you haven't ovulated yet. It is very possible, but usually ovulation around Day 9 or Day 10 is pretty early for most people - but possible and there is nothing wrong if someone ovulates that early. Having been up for a half hour could definitely have skewed your temp. I say keep BDing and then see what your temp is in the next couple of days. High temps confirm ovulation, but you can't just look at one temp. You want to see 2 or 3 high temps in a row before confirming ovulation.

How long are your cycles usually? Are you temping at the same time each morning? And after at least 3 hrs of uninterrupted sleep (except when unexpected things such as phone calls occur-of course.) Even getting up to go to the bathroom 2 hrs before you actually wake up and temp can skew things. I know set my alarm for 6am, temp, go to the bathroom, and then go back to sleep since I always have to wake up to go to the bathroom around then. So I couldn't temp at 8am like I wanted cause it would always be skewed for me.

I hope this helps!
~Laura~

Re: quick question for Laura

Laura, thanks so much. I think it is a early too but I wasn't sure. It's funny because I have a little twinge of pain on the left side also. The opk says no.I was leaning more towards the 11-14th????DH is working later tonight so.....who knows!!!LOL I guess I will just try every other day until the 15th or so starting tomorrow. What do you think? Maybe I will try setting my clock for temps also. This is so much harder than I thought it would be...lol If I did'nt want to be pregnant, I would be!!!!!!!right??How are things going for you??? Thanks so much for your help!Baby dust to you!

Re: quick question for Laura

i have never really understood temp charting..i did it awhile back and didnt know what i was doing, and missed the "right days"....out of curiosity, i took my temp one day not too long ago (using a basal therm)....and it was 97.???......i took my temp today out of curiosity...just pretty much playing around...as with my days...i just cant chart..because of too much going on in my life...i may never get to sleep for 3 consecutive hours. anyway...my periods are irregular...i should start sometime next week....and the temp was around 98.6....so am wondering what that means. i didnt take my temp until late in the day...but i had done it the same way the time that it was 97.?? so i dont know why there would be such a big difference. but i am not going to get excited...cause 9 years of this...i have learned not to. i have questioned if i could be because of a few symptoms....but there have been times i have had "symptoms" just to learn that my body was playing tricks on me....so i dont pay attention to anything---except AF!

Re: quick question for Laura

I always take my temp at the same time every morning after 3 hrs of sleep, but then sometimes "just becuase" I will temp throughout the day. My temps fluctuate a lot throughout the day! So you really can't go by daytime temps, even if it is the same time each day. Your temp changes based on your metabolism and activity level throughout the day. Temping for charting reasons is to be done in the mornings, at the same time, after sleep - that is why it is Basal Body Temp - your base temperature.
