Question, ref late ovulation

Well, according to my computer data i have ovulated around cycle day 20

My question is, as i have ovulated late does this mean that af will be late or should i expect her on the day she is meant to arrive?

Any advise would be much appreciated, thankyou in advance and baby dust to all ttcers

Re: Question, ref late ovulation

I would have thought that your luteal phase (after ovulation) remains stable and the days leading up to your ovulation can alter (if you are prone to irregular AFs - like me). The luteal phase is normally from 12-14 days after ovulation, I would calculate for that amount of time after Ovualtion.

Good luck!

Re: Question, ref late ovulation

AF will be late. It usually comes 14 days after you ovulate, so cycle day 34 for you, but could range from 12-16 days after ovulation. Women do ovulate at different times, but that really means that you may ovulate at a different number of days past your last AF every month (ie could range from 14-24 days past), not that the number of days from ovulation to AF will vary significantly from month to month. Hope this isn't too confusing...good luck!

Re: Question, ref late ovulation

Thankyou for your replies.

Another question, i had to take my temp 1hr early this morning and my temp was lower than yesterdays, assuming i have ovulated, because i had to get up early and i was sleep deprived (i dont think i had a full 3 hours in total!) could this make my temp drop? Im hoping i have ovulated because cm is now creamy and cp is high, semi open and not soft but not firm, sorry tmi.

Re: Question, ref late ovulation

Af date will be o date plus luteal length eg o date plus 12-16 days.
If you didnt have 3 hours sleep continuosly then you have to ignore that days temp and mark it as disturbed on you soft ware. This would have affected your temperature without a doubt.

Re: Question, ref late ovulation

You are supposed to ignore the temperature...but I think it also depends on the person whether it really affects you (not enough sleep/different time of night). I've only been charting for a couple weeks, and I started the day I think I O'd (only low temp), but since then all my temps have been between 98.1-98.3, and I've taken my temperature after 2 1/2 hrs of sleep a couple times, and at various times between 1 and 6 am.

I would think if you've been charting for a few cycles, you would get a feel for whether different times mess up your temperature or not. But I believe as long as you still have creamy or egg white CM, you're still considered fertile, so you can keep BD'ing if you're not sure you ovulated

Re: Question, ref late ovulation

TTC is great for testing your patience...First you have to wait to O, then you have to wait to see if AF shows up, and even if you get a BFP you have to wait for another 8 1/2 months for the baby!

Re: Question, ref late ovulation

sammie - thats a long time to wait. I get mine done at my gp's and get results a few days later. why do you have to wait so long?i am on cd9 now so will have blood done 22 april, am using ov scope but nothing yet, do you know if clomid will make me have a 28 day cycle?
hope the wait is not too bad for you, when are you going to do a hpt?
good luck hope it worked for you this month and heres to a BFP!!
take care

Re: Question, ref late ovulation

I havent got a clue when to do a hpt seeing as i havent ovulated yet! This really cant be right?

I have to wait until Mr Mahendran gives me my results, well i think i do anyhow, i may phone the doctors on friday and see if they have any news.

I am not sure if Clomid will give you a definate 28 day cycle, i shall do some searching and let you know.

I really am getting myself in a state about this ovulating thingy, all i want to do is cry all the time and eat chocolate - which is unlike me, i am fed up of bdancing to find out a few days later that i havent o'ed, well you know what i mean, not fed up of it but tired that nothing is happening and im sure dh sees the bding as a chore now

I really dont know what to do apart from eat more chocolate lol, anyway i shall go look up the info on clomid and get back to you
