Trying to conceive at 39

Hi everyone,

Well I am new here, and as everyone else seems to be doing here - trying to get pregnant. Has anyone heard of many people my age actually falling pregnant. I am not sure that I am ovulating every month (I don't always get the clear mucus - things can be rather dry). So I am wondering if anyone has any recommendations for getting their bodies to ovulate and just general advice!

Any feedback or help would be much appreciated!

Kind Regards
Jennifer

Re: Trying to conceive at 39

My friend is 38 years old and she has just got a bfp.

You can check ovulation using test strips (sorry dont know what there called as i dont use them) or an ovulation microscope (this i love).

To help with ovulation there is a drug called Ovulex which is meant to help, i know you cant get it from the shops in England but im not sue about America etc, its on the net though, to regulate my af i take Angus Chaste Berry which you can get from health food shops or the phamacist.

There are some good books out there also that help, i went into my library and looked in the health section and its amazing what you find. I brought a book by Toni Weschler called Taking Charge Of Your Fertility and its been my bible - certainly one i dont regret buying

Good luck and if i think of anything else i will let you know.

Hi Ms,
BFP means big fat positive meaning a positive pregnancy test Just wanted to wish you good luck. Have you talked to your DR about getting pregnant? Maybe he has advice. There are ovulation tests. You can buy them at most any store that carries pregnancy test. There right next to them. They tell you when your most fertile time is My Mother was in her late 30's and my sister had a friend who was 38. I think it is very common for woman over 35 these days that are having babies. I think even in the old days it was common!
Baby dust to you!

Hiya...

When ttc I used this board, its really helpful, the ladies are super supportive and if you do searches there is a wealth of information in previous threads/posts too. I am now pg and hope that I can help others who are on this board as I know how tricky ttc can be...

I would suggest if you're ttc asap try not to set yourself up for disappointment, sometimes good things take time (like good wine ). I would suggest the following tho:

Make a plan!!!!
* What indicators are you going to use to help you predict ovulation? (definately use more than one!)
* Learn through basal body temps what rhythm your cycle has temperature wise. Invest in a personal calender (or print one from MS word). Note your twinges and mucus types, try and establish a rhythm.
* While doing the temperature thing, I would invest in some ovulation predictor sticks, they can detect hormone surges allowing you to know when you are ABOUT to ovulate.
* Your egg is available for fertilisation for 12 hours (approx... nasty window huh!) SO the idea is to find out when you're ABOUT to ovulate then BD (Baby Dance). BD every day to every second day around the window of opportunity. This could be several days... but the idea is to make sure when you release your egg, there is sperm there waiting... OR on its way very shortly
* Take some evening primrose oil, this will increase the amount of clear cm so your DH's 'boys' can live for longer inside you (the clear cm is a protective mechanism for his sperm to survive for longer and allow them to travel further on their quest )

Good luck on your journey....
