MRI scheduled and in 2ww - Trying to Conceive (TTC) Message Board

I am scheduled for a non-contrast MRI tomorrow morning. However, I am currently in my 2ww (3 dpo). I only bd'd on the 12th. Ovulation was 13th. So, there is a chance that I could be pregnant. When scheduled, I didn't really think of the dates.

I've done a lot of research and searched these boards. If it was a contrast MRI, I would definitely not do it. But it's a non-contrast MRI. The info I found was inconclusive.

The MRI is on my wrist. I broke it back in September and still am having major problems with it. There is most likely ligament damage. The pain is horrible and I still can't lift anything or turn my wrist. Which is why I would really, really like to get the MRI done.

Anyone have any info on non-contrast MRIs's?

I don't know anything about those type of MRI's but what you could do is call the testing center and see what they recommend. Or definitely let them know tomorrow that there is a chance you could be pregnant.

I actually have to get some hand xrays next week and was thinking the same types of things. I am 4DPO, so I definitely won't know if I am PG until later that week.

Hi Hellokitty,

They know that there is a chance and will make me sign a 'consent' form for the MRI. The consent form just states that they 'don't know' of potential problems it could cause and that they 'warned' me. There just isn't enough supporting claims regarding pregnancy and non-contrast MRI's.

I think that I might cancel it and just wait the 2 weeks for AF to come. This way I'll have piece of mind and know for sure. I've suffered this long, what's another couple of weeks?

So, sounds like we are in the 2ww together. Looks like there are a lot of us.

I had a dentist appt this week (while in 2WW) and while it's not normally the time that we do x-rays (that happens in my July appt), I am having some problems with one molar, so they wanted to do one anyway.

First, it was kinda neat to actually say to someone, "Before we do the x-rays, I have to tell you that there is a chance I could be pregnant." We haven't told anyone that we are TTC, so it was fun to tell someone else.

I told her it was "possible" but not "probable" since there's only a 20% chance each cycle (all else being equal).

Second, the hygenist said that since they use digital x-rays instead of the film-type, there was less radiation. Plus, she said that they completely cover me up with the lead shield drape, so it should be ok.

As I was leaving the dentist's office the hygenist said "Hopefully at your next appointment you'll be pregnant. Good luck!" Excitement came over me at that point -- I hope I am, too!
