Unhappy Anyone else with really irregular cycles TTC?

I am so frustrated. My cycles are soooooo irregular that it is next to impossible to calculate ovulation. I had been bleeding 120 out of the last 140 days, and stopped bleeding for 2 weeks. Lots of BDing for those I'll tell you, hoping to hit the fertile time LOL (sorry, tmi, I know) and then I woke up last night with Bleeding starting again. I've had every test my gyn can throw at me and everything is "normal". Hormone levels are good...no irregular cells, no fibriods or polyps or anything. I've had biopsies and blood taken and swabs galore and everything is "normal" Well then Why the heck am I not "regular". The only thing they can guess at is it's my type 2 diabetes affecting it, along with the excess weight. I'm losing weight properly and slowly (21 lbs in the last 3 months) and my glucose levels are in a good range and still going down.
DH and I have done so much crying and hair pulling and tantrum throwing and so devistated every time I start bleeding again that we're spent. We've been TTC Since our wedding in Sept 2004. I have another 100 lbs to lose, but that is going to take at LEAST a year...and I don't know if we can wait that long. What happens if in that year I lose the ability to have a baby? I am so terrified that we won't be able to have a baby. My gyn won't consider clomid until I lose at least another 80 lbs, but I have this urgency like if I don't get pregnant in the next year, that We'll lose our chance...I am 33, so I know I have a few more good years to have a baby...
UGH!!!
Thanks for listening I love that I can rant and ***** and cry here, and at least ONE lady is out there nodding her head at something, having been in or are in a similar situtation. Knowing that there is someone at the other end thinking "Good luck and baby dust to you" even if they don't write it, is comforting.
Lots of love luck and babydust to all you strong brave ladies ttc.
-Jenna

Re: Anyone else with really irregular cycles TTC?

My doctor just told me that any kind of weight loss or weight gain can particularly affect your ovulation patterns. Were your cycles always irregular? If not, I would bet that your weight loss has a lot to do with it. I might try to buy some ovulation kits as these will help you figure out when and if you are ovulating. I've heard many women discuss their success by tracking their temperature using a basal thermometer. Lots and lots of baby dust to you and your husband! My husband and I have been trying unsuccessfully too. I know how frustrating it can be. I can't tell you how many women I've talked to have said they have gotten pregnant when they have just relaxed and told themselves, "When the time is right, it will happen."

Re: Anyone else with really irregular cycles TTC?

Jenna, I have irregular cycles too, but mine are the opposite. I have AF anywhere from 28 to 85 days apart. I started charting my BBT last month, so I'm just getting to know what ovulation looks like on paper. I'm still not sure what it's supposed to look like, but maybe I'll get there in time. I hope you figure out why the constant bleeding. That's not normal. I once bled for 3 months straight (when I was 15), so I know how that feels. You just get so tired of wearing a pad every stinkin day! They never figured out why I did that either. It stopped a couple of days before my dr appt and the doc just said "I can't do anything about it now, but if it happens again come back in and we'll see what's going on". Yeah, well if it didn't take a month to get in to that dr office, I would have done it sooner!

Anyway, all that to say that I understand the frustration of having irregular cycles. Good luck and baby dust to you.

Re: Anyone else with really irregular cycles TTC?

Hi, you are not alone....I have had an irregular cycle all my life, but my problem is PCOS which I am now managing to control with metformin and weight loss. The weight loss is really the key as it seems to kick start our systems to function as they should. I've only been on metformin for 3 months and my cycle seems now to be more regular. Just hang in there... you are only 33...I know, I know you feel like you're gonna miss the opportunity, but hey..I'm 33 too and have been trying since 2002! Persevere with the weight loss...there is light at the end of the tunnel. Good luck & baby dust to you both.

Re: Anyone else with really irregular cycles TTC?

Have you tried any type of Chinese Herbalism?...I was extremly irregular (had maybe 2 - 4 cycles per year) and after a month with a Herbalist I had cycles 4-6 weeks apart and 1 year after starting the therapy I conceived. Unfortunately I did lose the baby 5 weeks ago (I was 13 weeks). It had nothing to do with the Herbs as I had been off of them for 4 months before conception. But I am 40 and had NEVER been able to get pregnant!
So it did work! I don't think I am allowed to give out her name on this site though? I would if I could.
All the best
Mysti
