New to TTC - Advice needed please

im new to TTC and need some "motherly advice" as my mom is 25000 miles away from me and i feel so awkward. What words should i put it search engines to look up websites to find the things i need to help me understand all this technical mumbo jumbo. Like the schedules of ovulating and etc. I dont have an OB right now, im trying to search for one. My next GP appointment is June 26th. AF isnt very active atm, i just spot from time to time and its not much to even count as AF and too occasional.

We've been trying for 6 months so far with no avail. Though false negatives run in my family consistantly hitting every generation. I just want to be in proper hands. Also needing help finding an OB if there is any way i can go about looking for one on the net it would be thankful. I do understand websites cannot be posted, im just looking for key words to enter into searches and advice.

Thanks in advance and lots of baby dust

Re: New to TTC - Advice needed please

I always typed in "trying to conceive" "tips on conceiving," "how to get pregnant"--those worked pretty well.

I understand what you're going through! I am TTC, and I too live long-distance from my mother. However, my mom has no idea we are even TTC because we want it to be a big surprise. I know how hard things will be when we officially get pregnant and have the baby. I won't have the family close-by for help. Although other people will never replace your mother, I've learned to ask questions and rely on advice from close girl friends and women I've worked with who have TTC in the past. Also, I highly recommend going to your local bookstore or library and getting some books on pregnancy. It's against the forum policy to actually recommend titles, but a sales clerk could probably direct you towards the most popular ones. Your doctor might also be able to recommend some good ones.

Re: New to TTC - Advice needed please

Hi Jes,
I posted a reply to your other thread.
Now that I know you're ttc, then a gyn-ob would be a good place to start. They can do tests that help you know if you're ovulating, or if you need help with hormones etc.
The ladies here are great and please post your thoughts and questions, it's a great support forum!

Love luck and babydust!
-Jenna

Re: New to TTC - Advice needed please

If you don't understand all the mumbo on ovulation and calculating, there's a very good site (although it's against the rules to say) that can help you pinpoint your ovulation times. You really have to know how long your cycles are.
Which being your cycle starts on the first day of your period, and ends when you get your next. You usually ovulate on the 14th day after the start of the cycle , although some can ovulate a little earlier, or later. A great way to find out is to track your cycles, get a general idea of how long they last. During the days you suspect you are going to ovulate, buy a few ovulation predictor tests and find out when indeed you will ovulate.
Ovulation predictor kits are especially great if you don't have regular cycles.

Do a search for "ovulation calculator" and you should be directed to a few sites that will help you keep track of your cycles, and tell you when you should ovulate.

I hope I helped you some..and good luck on TTC!!

Re: New to TTC - Advice needed please

Thanks for the tips guys! Ill be trying to search the web tonight for them, and be more of a regular in here hehe. I did tell my mom that we are TTC because i wanted her blessing , as we are close and i dont want her mad at me (im still learning the basics of being an adult through her). I guess im just a people pleaser, I definately want her at my side on the birth date as she is my rock.

Thanks again, looking forward to the little munchkin, if only it'll get here LOL
