Started AF on Sunday 7/30 and began OPK on 8/1. I have read that you should not do OPK in the morning because your body breaks down the hormone that is being tested, that it is better to not go to the bathroom for a few hours during the day and then test. Is this true?? Anyone else use the clearblue OPK with the lines?? Man these things are frusterating!! Hard to tell if the line is slightly lighter or slightly darker or the same!!! Anyways just looking for some advise on using the OPKs. Thanks, and baby dust to all!!!
I used to always use them first thing in the morning and never truly got a good dark line when I ovulated. I do know that I ovulated because I did get pregnant and have 2 healthy children as poof!!! Anyway, we're now ttc #3 and I started using OPKs again and just out of sheer curiosity (since I heard the same thing about not testing in the morning), I was testing both in the morning and around dinnertime. I got a VERY VERY faint line last Fri. and then that night I got a DARK line! So....my two cents would be - test at night. I've also read that you should test between 10am and 8pm.
Well I guess that pretty much sums it up!! Test OPK in the afternoon not the morning. Maybe thats where I have been going wrong!!! So does anyone know about how much the digital ones cost?? It sounds like they are much easier to use. Thanks for the imput guys.
The digital tests cost quite a bit more. I think the pack of 6 testers are about $30 in the US. I chart me basal body temperature, so I have good idea of when I O, so usually I can get the pack of OPKs to last 2-3 months. Just a thought.
