Is spotting before periods normal? Miscarried once and scared! - Trying to Conceive (TTC) Message Board

Hi - I just wanted to know if anyone out there spots mostly brown, sometimes pink before each period for 3-5 days. Then my period comes for 2 days and I spot 1 -2 more days and it goes away. It lasts about 1 week from spotting to it ending. I miscarried in July on our first attempt to getting pregnant and I was finally able to start again this month, but it didn't work.

I'm worried that the spotting might be of concern, but I've been spotting for years and never thought much of it. I mentioned it to my OBGYN and he said everyone's cycle is different and didn't seem too concerned, mostly because it was my first miscarriage. Does anyone else experience spotting before periods and go on to have healthy babies? Please help!

I had thought I had posted this before...I am sorry that it didn't go through for some reason. I have had the spotting like you and just like you about a 3 day "Full" period. I think it is fine and normal and don't be scared. My mom miscarried and then had my beautiful sister, and my mother-in-law also miscarried and had 2 more strong boys. So...you will have your baby, don't worry!

I have some brown spotting before my period arrives full force too. Never had that happen before my first pregnancy.
My question is....what day is CD#1 with all of that spotting? I usually count the first full day of heavy bleeding as #1.

I was told to start counting Day 1 when you see red blood, which for me, is when the cramps come. :-)

Hi ! I had spotting all around the month ( which was concerning to me ) My dr. said it was probably hormonal, lack of progesterone, which is very common. She put me on progesterone suppliments for half of my cycle, which helped pretty much. I thought with the spotting, i wasn't able to get pregnant. After five months of being on it, i got pregnant ! I am now nine weeks along
