Hello! I am hoping someone can give me a little insight on some information I came across and how I should handle it. I am 27 and have been TTC for three months. My dh is 32. I was put on a beta blocker back in March due to a very high heart rate. Since being on the medicine everything has returned to normal. The medicine has made a world of difference. When I was at my last appointment with my obgyn I explained being on the medicine which she said wouldn't be a problem if I got pregnant, only that I may need to switch types when I find out I am. Well about two weeks after my appointment with her my dh ended up in the hospital for two days with atrial fibrilation (heart beating out of rythym) What are the odds?!?! All tests came back fine and he was put on a calcium channel blocker to keep it from happening in the future. Well I was searching on the internet yesterday and came across several articles regarding calcium channel blockers and how they almost effect a man like birth control would a woman! Needless to say, this was very disappointing to me. I am not sure if this is true or if these are just "some" of the studies that they have done but haven't been compared to other studies etc. Now I am wondering what we should do? I asked him to call his cardiologist (the one who placed him on the medicine) and ask if they knew anything about this. He did and the nurse just said, "I've never had anyone ask me that before." I figured that's because most of the patients there are in their 80's!!! Of course that wouldn't be a huge concern to them. I now feel very frustrated and worried. What if it's true? He has to be on this medicine. But if it is true that means that it may not be possible at all for me to get pregnant in this situation. I am at a loss on where to go to find out if this is the case or not. Should I call my obgyn and ask her? I asked the pharmacy but they weren't really helpful. Any ideas???
