Could I be?

I had a negative blood hCG that was drawn on Thursday. I had a positive HPT on Monday, another one on Wednesday night (this one was a digital one), then also on Wednesday night, I had 2 negative tests (after drinking 2 bottles of water so I could go to the bathroom again). Then 2 more negative HPT on Thursday morning. So, 2 + in a row, on 2 different days and from 2 seperate hpt kits. Then 4 - in a row. I have been on birth control...but had been on antibiotics for acne (doctor had said that this specific type would not interfere with the BCP--but you never know). So, I really can't say when I had my last period because I took the BCP back-to-back to skip my period last time.
After accepting that the blood hcg was negative, I am ok...but I still have a funny feeling that I may be pg...I can't explain it, but the same reason that I decided to do a hpt this week.
Obviously we weren't TTC because I am still on the BCP, but my husband and I were both a little sad to find out I wasn't pg. I just can't shake that nagging feeling that I may be really, really early pg. Could it be possible, or is the blood hCG correct?

Re: Could I be?

Blood HCG are normally accurate but it may of been too early to detect the hormone. Positive HPT nearly always mean positive, if you had a negative after a positive i would still take the positive one as the correct result. The only thing that might make a test seem positive if its not, is reading the result later than the test time, as they often look positive later on. But as you used a digital one this wouldnt be possible. Some tests are just more sensitive than others which could explain the different results.
You said you have a feeling you are pg, often this is how women know they are pg before even doing a test. I would go back to the doctors asap and ask for another bloog HCG, which should definitely give a correct result by now.

Re: Could I be?

The first thing a couple people said to me was that reading hpt can be tricky sometimes. The first one, with the lines, was faint, but still pink. I looked up info about false-positives and what I saw did not sound to be an evaporations line...and I read it after 3-4 minutes. The digital one seemed to say "Pregnant" sooner than it said "not pregnant" when I retested a little later with the digital.
I told myself that on my next day off I will retest with a hpt...I won't know when my next day off will be until this afternoon, so that way I have a set goal of when to wait until. It could be Monday...or a few days after that.
I think one of the main reasons that I just can't accept the fact that 2 were positive and there is still a very slight chance that I could be pg is that I have a heart problem and I want to make sure I am watched throughout because the meds I'm on are ok at the beginning but would prefer to be off of them completely (which I am able to do sometimes).

Re: Could I be?

In that case i wouldnt wait and would go straight back to the doctors.
If the hormone was high enough to show on an HPT it would definitely show on a blood HCG by now

Re: Could I be?

I had the same thing happen a few years ago. Had 2 BFPs, then 2 BFNs. Blood test was BFN. I was not pregnant. When is AF due? Maybe this was a chemical pg-maybe a fertilized egg attached, but quickly died. I hope all works out well for you. p.s. I do know that one of the HPTs that claim you can test earlier than most had some information somewhere on the web about complaints that it had too many false positives. That was the brand I used. I will never use that brand again.
