Question Question about clomid/robitussin

This is my first month taking clomid-just took my last pill tonight. I have taken it on days 5-9. My Dr. has prescribed this along with progesterone due to the fact that I have had two early miscarriages in the past 6 months. I have been doing some research and have read that a possible side effect of clomid is thinning of the linning, resulting in early miscarriage AND creating a hostile CM, which kills the sperm. Needless to say I am wondering why i am taking this stuff. I have concieved twice, so I am o'ing...right? OK, here is my other question....I also read that taking robitussin can help with the CM--do you all think I should take this as well, have any of you been instructed by your dr to take robitussin while taking clomid and on what days are you supposed to take it? I keep trying to tell myself to just trust my dr. but i just don't feel 100% comfortable in taking the clomid. Any info would be greatly appreciated! THANKS!

Re: Question about clomid/robitussin

I cant really answer your questiom but just wanted to say have you tried vitex? (also known as agnus castus or chasteberry). Its a herbal extract and Goldenmom described it as nature's clomid, which i think is a great way of putting it. It helps regulate cycles and induce ovulation. would be good to try if you are not comfortable with taking clomid. There are a couple of threads on here about it

Re: Question about clomid/robitussin

I take a bit of a different approach to going to the doctor. I've read 3 infertility books and all three recommend being your own advocate, that your doctor only knows general medical information and that you know your body best. I'm starting through the infertility treatment process and everyone has told me that I need to be entirely informed and call the shots, which is what I am doing. My doctor is happy that I am well informed and thinks that the plan I have made for myself is great.

That being said, I think if you are not comfortable taking clomid that you should not take it. I have read the reports that it creates a hostile CM environment and that it can cause early miscarriage. The good news is that a lot of times in early miscarriage cases, progesterone is one of the problems and you are taking that.

Have you had all of your hormones checked via bloodwork? Also, are you seeing an infertility specialist or your gynecologist? Every book I have read has said that it is extremely important to see a reproductive endocrinologist.

Wishing you the best!
