23 day cycle...when will I ovulate???

Hello everyone. My dh and I started ttc our 3rd child in August. I never keep track of my cycles. I just know that I always start earlier than the month before. I had af on Aug. 20. Then I had a light af on Sep. 12, 13 and 15th. I thought it might be implantation but since I started af again today Oct. 5th. I realized that I must have had an abnormal period in Sept. Anyways, I have determined that I am on a 23 day cycle. So when will I ovulate?? I did one of those fertility calenders online and it said that I would be most fertile on Oct. 11-16. But 6 days after my cycle?? that sound a little too soon. Any information would be appreciated. thanks!!!

Re: 23 day cycle...when will I ovulate???

Hi. I am kind of in the same boat that you are in. I have fairly short cycles as well, about 24-25 days. I too have been using one of the sites online, mostly just to help me track my cycles each month etc. But it also tells when you would most likely ovulate. I don't put too much stock into it just because it's only an average. I asked the same question a few days ago here and from what I understand I can go ahead and start using my OPK as soon as AF stops. AF for me last six days and so after AF I just start using the OPK until I get a positive. So, I guess it's possible to O that soon after AF. I always tell my friends that my cycles seem so short that I am always either having AF or PMS! It's not a fun way to live sometimes!!! Anyway, good luck to you. I am sure someone more knowledgeable about this subject could probably help you too. I am new here and still learning about all this myself.

Re: 23 day cycle...when will I ovulate???

Women usually ovulate approximately 14 days before their next cycle, which would be cycle day 9 for you. The actual day can vary a bit, but remember that the sperm can live for up to 5 days, so that's why the window seems to start so soon. I look at it as a reminder to have sex ahead of time and not just the day of ovulation.

Have you always had short cycles? It is much more difficult for women to get pregnant with cycles less than 25 days.

Good luck!

Re: 23 day cycle...when will I ovulate???

I have really never kept track of them. I just know that every month, I'm earlier than the month before. I didn't have any problems concieving my other two. We're going on 3 months this time around. It's hard for me cause I swore that I would never carry another one through the summer months like I did with my other two. I was miserable!!! Now I'm really wanting another one as my youngest will be 5 this month!! I don't know whether to wait a few months...hoping for a winter/spring baby or just keep trying (not knowing how long it will take. ) Oh well , I guess it will happen when it happens. Thanks for the input!!
