Daylights Saving Time and BBT

I was wondering how those of you taking BBT's are dealing with the daylight saving time. Since we had to turn the clocks back an hour, do we need to take our temps an hour later too, so as not to mess up the temp??? Or, do we just get up the same time as we normally would regardless of the change, even though an hour later??? I hope you understand what I mean....

Re: Daylights Saving Time and BBT

Zuzu, from what I understand the BBT is most reliable when taken as soon as you wake up, before you even get out of bed, regardless of what time it is. I used to keep my thermometer on the nightstand so I could get it first thing. Hope this helps, good luck to you. ec

Re: Daylights Saving Time and BBT

Taking Charge of Your Fertility recommends changing the time that you wake up by 15-20 minutes each day to account for the time change. After 3-4 days you will be back on schedule.

I personally do not worry about Daylight Saving Time. Unless you are going to ovulate in the next 2-3 days (and even then) it shouldn't matter much. I am assuming you are charting to confirm that you are ovulating and not to time sex, in which case, your temps will still confirm your ovulation.

Good luck!

Re: Daylights Saving Time and BBT

I've heard (from the website I do my charting on) that you should just continue taking it at the same time. If you took your temp at 6am before the change, you should take it at 6am after the change. It might be off for a day or so, but not enough for it to affect your chart in the overall scheme of things.

Re: Daylights Saving Time and BBT

Thank you all for your responses. I guess I don't need to worry too much then, since I just O'd 3 days ago..... my temps should all stay high now regardless, as long as I take it right when I get up like you were saying....

Thanks again!!

Zuzu
