My question is can you ovulate 7 days past period? i have had my tubes tied( getting ready to reverse though) so i am kind of messed up anyways. i have felt what i thought is ovualtion pain but may not be. is this possible to ovulate this early, usually it is 14 days after start of period right? i know this sounds silly.

It doesn't sound silly - this whole TTC thing is very confusing so much of the time!! And I learn new stuff all the time on here.....

Anyway, you are counting the wrong way...O is not determined by counting up from cycle-day 1, but backwards from the next cycle-day 1 (this is all quite general but give you a rough idea). It takes (for the majority of women) 14 days between O and AF therefore, if you have a 21 day cycle it is likely you could have ovulated on CD7, a 25 day cycle would mean O on CD11 etc. It is a common assumption that you ovulate on day 14 because most text on this subject presumes a 28 day cycle.

Do you mean 7 days past the end of your period? Or 7 days past the start of your period? Either way, it is common. Average is 14 days past the start of your period, but many women, like myself, O sooner than that! I read somewhere recently that it is normal to O anywhere from 7-21 days past the beginning of your period.

You would generally only ovulate on CD7 if you had 21 day cycle - although it is not unheard of to have a longer or shorter luteal-phase (this is the time from O to AF). Average is 14 days, but it has to be at least 10 days to support a pregnancy.
