Temping Newbies : Early Ovulation? - Trying to Conceive (TTC) Message Board

I'm very new to temping and I feel sooo lost. My temperatures fluctuate in the wost ways. Not by .1 or .2 degrees, but by whole degrees!

For example: I am on cycle day 6 and my temperature dropped almost 2 points!! Could this be early O? Please help!

Here are my temps so far this cycle.

Temp - Cycle Day
97.75 - 1
97.70 - 2
96.99 - 3
96.89 - 4*
97.23 - 5*
95.97 - 6*

* I have been recording temps at the same time each morning for the last 3 days. Before that there was as much as 1hr differentials between the times.

Ah, I just remembered that I also have an ovulation scope. the thing is, the light died on me after having it for less than 1 year. I should buy a new one.

Ovulation will show on your chart by having 3 days of higher temperatures. One high temperature is not ovulation. From ovulation until the next cycle starts you will have higher temps.

There is an article at the top of this forum in the TCC Information Archive and it gives more details about BBT temping. You could also read Taking Charge of Your Fertility. It truly is the best resource.

In your first month temping you won't be able to tell a thing. When you start your 2nd month temping and see a pattern between the two is when it is valuable. By the way -- you will have a much easier time temping if you use one of the free online temping sites. You enter in your temps and it will tell you if you ovulated. It will also maintain your charts for each month and predict when you will be ovulating next.

This sounds like an excellent idea. I've been recording my dates in my online calendar and then manually graphing the results in excel. The webtool sounds much much easier. What sites would you suggest?
