Not Trying To Conceive, but may have???

Okay, I am not trying to conceive, but I figured this was still the best place to ask questions. The man I date desperately wants a family and we do not use any protection, so it's not like I am trying not to conceive, just not tracking days and what not. So here's the deal...

The first day of my last period was January 22. We had unprotected sex on February 2nd and 3rd, right around the time I should have ovulated. Since that time, a lot has been going on. Now, granted, I have been very stressed at work so a lot of this could be nerves, but I am always stressed and the symptoms have never been this severe. For the past several days I have had indigestion, nausea that is most intense mid morning but lasts throughout the day, slightly sore breasts and a real mucousy discharge. I have been feeling slightly crampy, sharp twinges around my ovaries and I have just had a very "aware" sensation and feeling in my abdomen. I have been more tired that usual to the point that I can not even get out of bed in the morning. And I have no appetite at all.

At this point in my life, I really wouldn't mind being pregnant and I know that he would be ecstatic, but I don't want to get my hopes up. I am not supposed to start until the 19th, and I am trying not to be anxious. Is it too early to test? What are your opinions based on just the symptoms?

Re: Not Trying To Conceive, but may have???

Ok first of all hello, now on to the information based on what you told me and the basic 2 week lutual phase if you expect AF on te 19th you should have O'ed around the 5th so that wouls make having sex on the 2nd and 3rd decent timing. If you implanted quickly and or ovulated before you thought you may be feeling the affects of raised hcg but it would be fairly doubtful. But i'm one of those people who tries not to 'read to much into things.' I woudl wiat untill the 20th or so and test. You can test early but they just arn't as reliable if they are negative. If they are positive then they are 99% correct but if they are negative there is always the chance you may still be and I personally hate second guessing the results I would rather be able to take one test maybe to and be satisifed that the results were accuret. It that kind of thing dosent bother you the earliest I would test would be the 16th but that would be pretty early. Hope that helps,
Amber

Re: Not Trying To Conceive, but may have???

Thank you. I am trying to wait until I miss my period to test, but then there is this little voice screaming inside my head saying test now, test now! I have experienced circumstances similar to this before and never was pregnant, but everything feels different this time and in spite of myself I am almost excited at the thought that I could be. I think it is that the nausea is so intense and so constant that is really fueling my suspiscion. But I also have never been so "aware" of my female anatomy as I am now. Like it is always full of feeling and sensation or activity or something. It is very strange...

My boyfriend says that I always overanalyze everything to death, so more than likely my head is causing all these symptoms...lol...but who knows?

Re: Not Trying To Conceive, but may have???

Well I gave in this morning and took a test and it was negative. I did wake up sick again and the white mucousy discharge is increasing. What is that anyway? Could it be a sign or symptom of pregnancy? Geez, the more I think about it, the more I hope I am pregnant and I think that is making me want to interpret the symptoms I am having as more than what they are and I am probably just setting myself up for disappointment. Does anyone else have any thoughts or input to my situation?

Re: Not Trying To Conceive, but may have???

Some women do noticed increased mucus and discharge when they are pregnant. If it's a lot more than you usually have, it could be a good sign. I always have some of the creamy type discharge in my luteal phase so I wouldn't count mine as a sign unless the volume increased drastically. It could also be that you're just looking harder for possible signs of pregnancy and interpreting every twitch and pull...many women TTC experience this! Sometimes, they do turn out to be pregnant, others they don't.

Don't give up hope yet though. You still tested early especially since you say you expect AF on the 19th. You can try testing again in another couple of days if you can't hold out until AF is late. Good luck to you! Also, did you test with first morning urine? That usually has the highest concentration of hcg, especially it helps detect when you're testing early.
