Brown discharge - Trying to Conceive (TTC) Message Board

Hi All,

For the last 5 months or so, the first day of my period seems to be nothing but a dark brown discharge, and then the next day on, my period is its normal, heavy bloodflow. Any ideas? Should I be worried? I totally forgot to mention this to the Dr yesterday.

I don't believe its anything to worry about.. I've read that brown discharge is usually just old blood that didn't get expelled last time. I know many people who's periods start out as brown spotting. Its still worth mentioning to your doctor next time you remember though, just to let them know what is going on.

I think everyones AF is different, mine is like yours I get brown spotting a day before normal flow starts. Some of my friend just start with a normal flow of red blood. I think we are lucky b/c we get some warning and no embarrassing accidents.

Mine starts out like yours real dark brown discharge and the the next day I have a really heavy flow ,then it is light, next day spotting and it is over. I have asked the dr and he said that it is normal.I asked because mine only last 2-3 days and it worried me.But I dont get away so lucky I have sever cramps

with mine.But just so you will know and your dr will know I would say something about it.
