TTC after IUD - Trying to Conceive (TTC) Message Board

I had my Mirena IUD taken out 7 days ago. Since I had it taken out, I have been spotting and sometimes bleeding, though lightly. Is this my period? I stopped having my period shortly after the IUD was inserted, so I have no idea what my cycle is. My DH and and I want to TTC, so I need to figure out my cycle. Is bleeding common after an IUD is removed or should I count this as my period? I would love to hear from anyone who had an IUD to help me know what to expect. Thanks!

I had my IUD removed almost two months ago and I actually only spotted maybe just a little, that same day. I had the paragard which is way different than what you had because you don't have any hormones being released with paragard.. I always had my period with my IUD (makes me kind of wish I would have gotten what you had). I don't think I would count this spotting as your period. I do know that it might take a few months for your cycle to get on track since you hadn't been having a period for awhile because of those hormones your IUD had. Good Luck TTC!!!!
