I was just wondering if anyone has used the over the counter saliva tests (ferning method) for predicting the big O. I didnt have much luck with the sticks last month and decided to give this a try. Have yall had any experience with this method?

i used it for the last month, and i think its a pretty good thing,its easy to use, and i could use mine any time of day, sometimes used it 4 or 5 times in 1 day!
unfortunatly though i did not see a ful fern with it as i didnt realise how to focus in on it,by twisting the end, and for a couple of weeks all i saw was nothing, untill dh showed me how to do it! but i did see lots of partial ferns, and ickle bits of ferns, so id give it a go!

Hi,
I tried this but gave up because i kept forgetting! You get fern patterns for about 4days before ovulation and when your not ovulating it should be clear with just random specks!
The thing is i found that i got fern patterns even when i didn't ovulate apparantly this can be a sign of too much estrogen, But i think what you eat can effect the result! Its best to do it first thing in the morning before you eat anything because sometimes the salt in your food can be mixed with your saliva and cause a ferning effect!

Also i didn't buy a proper saliva test i just went to the toy store and bought a cheap microscope which is actually better and alot cheaper! I was so tempted to see if i could see the husbands sperm under it! lol he wouldn't let me though sorry (tmi) i can't believe i just admitted that im embarrassed now

good look with the saliva testing (hope i havn't given you any other ideas lol)

Hello, I have a Maybe BAby that I use each month. During the weeks leading up to O is shows a dotted pattern, then a few days prior to O I see a dotted/fern like combination then full ferns. What that is, is a rise in oestrogen, more salt in your system, this actually PRECEEDS the luteal phase - the lh surge. I find it very accurate, I am O and always see ferns around day 12 onwards, so I would be fertile in a couple of days from there on.
