What do you say? - Trying to Conceive (TTC) Message Board

We have not told anyone we are TTC. Well except for you guys! But no one knows I am off the pill. I went to a baby shower over the weekend for one of my best friends. There were tons of children/babies there and the infamous question was directed at me. "When are you going to have one?" "It's your turn." "We aren't getting any younger, when are you going to get pregnant?" So what do you guys say to these people?

The nicest thing I can think of to say would be......one of these days

I can think of lots of nasty stuff to say......I hate when people ask those kinds of personal questions

hiya, could always just say "oh we havent really thought about it" and then change the subject quickly so whom ever asks would forget about asking you, like "oh we havent really thought about it, oh and ive been meaning to ask you, where did you get that skirt/top/bag"

Tried and True it always works and gets EVERYONE off of you.

I say "I'm Catholic, I don't make those decisions" I started to say this when I was trying for my 2nd(dh's 1st) this was my 2nd marriage and first for him. His parents were wondering when when when and they had no clue that I was going to an infertility dr. So I started to say that I dont make those decisions and everyone stopped asking after about the 4th time i said it. Think they got tired of the answer! LOL

You cant be upset with people that want to know. It is only human to want to know when another lillte life is going to be entering the world. Its in our nature. We can just be pleasant and say it will happen when it happens. Being mean or nasty only gets you upset and makes you wonder what if something is wrong with me. THat stress is never good.
