Body vrs LH strips

I've had two miscarriages, But they havent put me off, just made the wanting a baby worse.

I've started using LH urine strips, and they keep giving the negative result, (Used since start of cycle) Yet my body is telling me I'm ovulating, Mucas the way my curvix is.

I want to believe the tests are wrong, It seems silly to go to the doctors this soon as i'm only on day 21. (cycle is 33 days long)

How soon does the cirvix move? does it happen before the LH tests can get a positive result?

I guess I'm just looking for a little hope, rather than the downer I can feel coming on.

Re: Body vrs LH strips

OPKs dont work for me. I have a 7 yr old son that proves that just fine. Your best bet is the chart your cycles. It sounds like more work the peeing on a strip but it is more accurate at least for me. I had one dr tell me that OPKs dont work for everyone. Sort of like HPTs dont work for everyone.
As for charting once you get in the habit of it it really isnt all that much work.
You can call your dr and explain that you dont think they are working and see what they say.

Re: Body vrs LH strips

Hey I'm going to echo the idea of using BBT to help track your cycle. OPKs are great but have some draw backs. They don't work for everyone, they are best used in mid afternoon, and some women have such a short LH surge that it can be missed. (also there are issues is you have PCO since then there can be more than one surge per cycle). And they can be $$$.

If you track BBT, CF, you can then figure out around when you think you might ovulate and then test for several days before the big O at mid afternoon. I know some womeen test twice a day.

The OPKs work great for me but only because I test 2x a day around when I am expecting ovulation. And I have noticed that if I didn't test 2x a day I would have missed the big O a couple of times!

Good luck!

Re: Body vrs LH strips

I'm also a huge follower of the BBTs. My LH surge is not long enough to be caught by the OPKs. I unfortunately wasted a lot of time and money relying on them and believing that I did not ovulate.

My RE told me to do the BBTs and I was quite skeptical, but now I swear by them. It actually became addictive and fun to do because you really know what is going on in your body.

A great book to read is Taking Charge of Your Fertility. It will explain everything you need to know about ovulation, temperatures, cervical mucous and cervix height.

So sorry to hear about your two miscarriages - and I feel the same way you do - having an m/c just made me want a baby more so than ever and I can't wait to start trying again!

Re: Body vrs LH strips

I have only ever had 1 positive OPK and I know that I do ovulate as I too BBT and I have also just finished a tracking assessment cycle with my ob/gyn. It really does depend on the time of day that you do it as the one time I did get a positive it was at 3pm I did another one at 5pm and it was negative. All the best.
