Well, I finally got all of my bloodwork back since my m/c at the beginning of October. I found out that I have the MTHFR mutation and elevated levels of homocysteine in my blood, as well as elevated DHEA serum. The doctor said that combined, they are most likely what caused the m/c. Both are 'fixable' problems through meds which I am grateful for. I was so worried about our karyotypes coming back abnormal, but both of us came back normal.

My husband just has to go for the semen analysis (which he's belly-aching about). I don't know what the big deal is, I had 22 vials of blood drawn and he gets to....we'll leave it at that!

So once that is out of the way, we can sit down with my RE and discuss the game plan.

So, I think I'll be able to sleep tonite....finally...

That's great news Nalphee! I know you're relieved. Was this your first miscarriage? I miscarried back in September and wasn't offered any kind of testing.

Yes. This was my first miscarriage. I fortunately have been seeing an RE because I was having issues with ovarian and tubal cysts, so they told me they would see me through the first 8 weeks of pregnancy. So, after I miscarried, they wanted to go ahead with the full battery of tests rather than wait to see if it happened again. They didn't want to chance saying it was just one of those 'statistical miscarriages'.

At first, I didn't want to have the the tests done because it was very scary and I didn't want them to tell me there was something that was going to prevent us from having a baby.

As traumatic as the m/c was, I'm ok that it happened...now. I wished for a while that I never even got pregnant so that I wouldn't have known what it was like, but now at least because of it, we have the knowledge that will hopefully prevent and help me along the next time around.

You should ask your doctor to at least test your hormone levels and maybe some of the thrombophilia studies. Unfortunately, most obgyns don't consider testing until after 2 or 3, which is not fair to put someone through when sometimes they are fixable problems.
